What is infertility?

Infertility describes an inability to achieve a healthy pregnancy after a year of having unprotected sex. If you’re 35 or over, you may face infertility challenges if you don’t become pregnant after six months of having unprotected sex.

At Ringhoffer OB-GYN, infertility services are available for women who need help becoming pregnant or maintaining a viable pregnancy.

Dr. Ringhoffer uses the latest technologies to uncover the factors that contribute to infertility. She also provides resources to help you conceive a successful pregnancy.

When should I seek medical care for infertility?

Schedule an infertility evaluation at Ringhoffer OB-GYN if you’re under 35 and have had unprotected sex for a year without getting pregnant or if you're 35 or over and have been actively trying to conceive for six months.

You should also book an appointment if you have issues with your menstrual cycle, such as heavy, irregular, or painful periods, or if you aren’t having regular monthly periods.

Other conditions that can interfere with your ability to become pregnant include:

  • Endometriosis
  • Uterine fibroids
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
  • History of miscarriages

Dr. Ringhoffer uses the latest diagnostic technologies to evaluate your reproductive health and determine what’s contributing to infertility. She can also customize a treatment plan to improve your chances of conception.

Which infertility services are available?

Ringhoffer OB-GYN provides several women-focused infertility services in-office, including:

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)

HSG is a diagnostic test that uses X-ray technology to diagnose issues in the uterus of fallopian tubes that contribute to infertility.

Follicle tracking

Follicle tracking uses ultrasound technology to track the growth and development of the ovarian follicles during your menstrual cycle. This helps identify the timing of ovulation, so you can make decisions about having unprotected sex or undergoing infertility treatments like intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Ovulation induction

Ovulation induction uses hormone medications to stimulate the release of eggs from the ovary. This treatment can also increase the number of eggs that reach maturity in a menstrual cycle to improve the chances of conception.

Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is an oupatient surgery to check and treat blocked tubes, endometriosis and scaring which can cause infertility.
